Treasured Memories...

Pages:  Four  Five  Six
"Ms Twenty Four Karat and I (Avery), showed on the AQHA circuit... She was a very special horse and had the heart of a champion in and out of the arena. I only had the privilege of showing her for 2 years and she was the nicest horse I had ever owned, lots of awards and titles won."
No one knows how old Garth really was, but he was loved and cared for by Tammy, her husband Dale and her son Brad for 18 years!
Meet Tammy's 32 year old mare,  "Jackie". "She belonged to someone else when I was showing her and she got her halter and pleasure pts.  I fell in love with her.  When she was 9 we traded money and horses for her.  She was worth every penny.  So she has been here for 23 years.  Known her for 26."
Leora's Molly
"Her name is Molly.... she's been my one in a million for a long time and we've been all over the country together from west coast to east coast. I will miss her when she is gone. I have 3 other equines (2 mules and a quarter horse) but she's the best of the best....she's a Missouri Foxtrotter...She's my girl."
Angela's mom, Linda lost her Prince at 32 years old.  Prince was in her life over 25  of those 32 years!
Picture this: a large sorrel quarter horse with a dark tail but lighter mane... A "surfer dude"!  That was Gail's handsome "Lucky".

His easy going, confident personality can't be replaced, but hopefully one day Gail will hear the call of another wonderful horse who needs the care and love that she has to give.  Lucky is missed dearly by  Gail,  Sheila and Buddy, Lucky's equine buddy.

Meet Marie's Racer.  "He was the first foal I ever raised, so he is very special. He is an Ivory Champagne foxtrotter, and he is very gentle. In fact, one of his nicknames is the Gentle Giant, or Marshmallow. He is beautiful, and I love him very much."

Flicka was Taylor's first horse...they were a team for over 5 years.
"Flicka was about 30 when we put her down and she had lost all her teeth so we had to make her a mush twice day. She was a great horse. She is deeply missed.  Flicka was the best horse you could ever ask for, she was wonderful."
"A favorite with the little ones."
Meet Mary and Thomas Nolan's Rocket! Rocket was one of their family and much loved. He lived a long life and sired probably 100 registered SSHBA  foals!

"He was known for putting babies on the ground with great minds and sweet dispositions.  He was 28 years old when we had to put him down due to colic."

"We just lost a very dear 'friend' we were blessed with for 21 yrs. Her name was Baby Doll. She was one of the first mini's my Dad bought for my daughter, Sarah, and myself (Tamsie) 21 yrs ago.  Sarah learned to ride on this mare before she was tall enough to get on without a step. The whole family had an attachment to this mare."

Melinda's beautiful Diva!
"Diva  was her name incarnate.  Life was on her terms and so was her death.  She gave me the final blessing of letting me know that she was ready to go and not to put her (and us) through drastic measures, trying to save her.  I loved every day we were together.  I will miss her every day we are apart."
Marianne's Breaker...

"Breaker would follow me around like a'big dog'.  He was sweet, but like all animals, he could be stubborn. He was a smooth ride, though. And the fact that he was so beautiful - made me feel so special when I was with him!"
Linda's Shorty
"Shorty was of course one of the ponies who broke the mold. He was a 'surprise' package as I purchased an ole roan mare who looked rather 'fat'. Over the years Shorty developed into a wonderful trail horse, a babysitter for 4H kids and timid adults. For the advanced rider he was athletic and compact so could go fast, round corners, and go the distance. He always had such a willing, wanting to please attitude and never would refuse to do anything for you. I have such fond memories of him as so do all who have had the pleasure to have ridden or known him!"

Meet Vera's (and family) Moose aka Moosehead...
"We have recently lost a beloved 'once in a lifetime' horse. He was the best trail horse and foxhunter you could ask for. Moose ALWAYS took care of his riders which were my daughters. Our barn and our hearts are missing something special."

Moose pictured at his performance as a top ten in dressage at the Arab Nationals in Arizona. He earned a Supreme Legion of Merit in his performance career before being retired by his previous owner, Robyn.
Dana and her beloved Claire have parted ways, but Claire is happy and loved in her new home.=)
Linda's beloved Avatar Pirouette...

"She was a chestnut mare with a Strip and 2 white socks on her back legs. She was 23 and took many 4-H kids to their first blue ribbons. She was also a Regional Champion reining mare and had a wonderful disposition."

Michelle and Alex's Vernon
"He was the original 'country mutt'...Vernon, a catahoula leopard hound and rat terrier mix was tragically killed on 2/15/11 when he overzealously leapt my 5' fence via the high snowbanks and was struck by a speeding school bus. Vernon was a shelter dog who spent a wonderful 3 years on the farm with me, my husband Alex and our other mutts and horses. He is sorely missed"
